⭐️Moving to a big bed!!⭐️
⭐️Don’t be in a rush to move your toddler into a big bed! ⭐️
⭐️Toddlers aren't developmentally able to comprehend not getting out of bed until they are 3! ⭐️
⭐️A cot helps them feel safe and secure. This smaller area has become their safe haven and they feel protected in their ‘nest’. ⭐️
⭐️Only move them out early if it has become dangerous and they have worked out how to repeatedly climb out⭐️
⭐️If you do have to move them into a big bed, put a gate on their door so their room becomes one big cot. It helps them feel secure and also if they do get up, the gate will prevent any sleepy walking near stairs! ⭐️
⭐️Top tip - once they have moved into a big bed, still pick your little one up for a cuddle before physically placing them into their bed. They will associate it with how they used to be put into their cot and can even support them to stay in bed. ⭐️
⭐️ Spend time when they are awake playing in their room. This will help them become familiar with their new big bed and feel less daunting when they go in it at night ⭐️
