About Me
Hi, I’m Jo Oliver — a maternity nurse, sleep consultant, and long-time advocate for parents and their little ones. I’ve been caring for babies and children since I was eleven years old, and almost three decades later, it's still my greatest passion.
With 18 years of professional experience and extensive training, I support families through the critical early years with practical, gentle, and deeply informed care. I'm a Level 3 Sleep Consultant, Level 3 Maternity Nurse, and certified in Level 4 Reflux & Allergy as well as Level 3 Childcare & Education. My approach is holistic and child-centered, focusing not just on better sleep, but on healthy development, emotional regulation, and family harmony.
When we work together, we’ll go beyond sleep schedules. We’ll explore your baby’s daily rhythms—feeding, naps, play, cuddles, and more—to create a calm and connected routine that works for your family. I provide age-appropriate activities that support brain and body development without overstimulation, and I help parents understand the “why” behind their child’s behaviors, so you can respond with confidence instead of confusion.
From gentle sleep techniques to managing reflux, allergies, or separation anxiety, I tailor everything to your baby’s needs and your parenting style. My goal is never to force sleep but to help your child feel safe and secure so that rest comes naturally.
Now entering the next phase of my work, I’m expanding into full-cycle care—supporting families from pregnancy through birth and beyond. I’m currently training with the Birth Bliss Academy and Guardians of Birth, so I can offer informed, compassionate care from the very beginning of your parenting journey.
Above all, my work is rooted in trust, evidence-based knowledge, and non-judgmental support. Whether you're preparing for your first baby or navigating new challenges with your toddler, I’m here to walk with you every step of the way.
DOULA-IN-TRAINING
“Let choice murmur in your ear And love murmur in your heart. Be ready... here comes life.”
— Maya Angelou
I am passionate about supporting families. After almost two decades doing so professionally with babies and children, it is a natural extension to begin the support from pregnancy. Doctors and midwives do a superb job - yet the process of birth is a natural process, traditionally one experienced with community support. We’ve lost that, and I’d like to bring back - and be part of - this holistic, joyous journey.
A doula is a trained professional who offers emotional, physical and informational support through:
Pregnancy and birth (birth doulas)
The postnatal period (postnatal doulas)
Overnight care (night doulas)
Antenatal preparation (antenatal doulas)
Doulas are not medical professionals. Our role is to provide non-judgemental, personalised support, helping you feel calm, informed, and in control—wherever and however you give birth.
Who is a doula?
A support for the whole family.
Doulas provide continuity of care and give emotional, informational and practical support throughout pregnancy, labour and after the birth of a baby to you, your partner and to the whole family.
Birth doulas support you during your pregnancy, birth and in the immediate postnatal time, while postnatal doulas provide flexible support to you after your baby is born. Some doulas offer both types of support.
Every birth story is different, and the birthing and parenting choices made are unique. Our job as doulas is to protect and advocate for your wishes. We believe that everyone deserves a safe, supported, positive birth and postnatal experience, and the opportunity to give their baby the best possible start.
A birth doula can also support you in the following ways:
Meet with you in pregnancy to build trust and rapport, and learn how to best support you.
Provide balanced evidence based information for you to make your own informed decisions about your maternity care.
Be a constant support to you in labour at home or hospital however you give birth.
Provide emotional support which can inspire confidence and calm.
Give practical support which may include encouraging you to find birth positions and movements that make you feel more comfortable, or by offering massage and touch to promote relaxation.
Encourage you to self advocate and will support you and your birth preferences.
Give space to you and your partner to welcome your baby.
A postnatal doula can support you in these ways:
Give you confidence in caring for your baby.
Listen and help you reflect on your birth and postnatal experience.
Provide assurance and encouragement to you as a new parent.
Offer practical, informational and emotional support to the whole family.
Help you find time to rest and recover.
Supports you to feed your baby, including offering help with breastfeeding.
Signpost you to support networks such as baby groups, online groups or health care professionals.
