Cuddles
I’ve read & heard advice that you shouldn’t cuddle/feed your baby to sleep when they are first born because it makes bad habits for the future. If I’m honest it makes me a bit sad.
You’ve waited a long time to meet them & they won’t be this small forever.
Cuddling your newborns to sleep is natural and beneficial for both mothers and baby. Among other things, cuddling increases the production of Oxytocin (the feel-good, bonding hormone) in both of you. It steadies their heart beat and reduces stress.
Newborns will sleep anywhere, any “habits” they create are easily adjusted later on. A babies body clock doesn’t start to slowly mature until around 10weeks old so until then (& of course much longer if that’s what you want) I would advise cuddling to sleep & don’t feel bad about it! The more cuddles the better.
That’s not to say you can’t get your newborn baby into a routine, but more about that in another post 🤗
