Dummies
☀️Let’s talk dummies ☀️
I don’t encourage or discourage the use of a dummy and I certainly don’t judge. I work with the needs of individual babies/families.
☀️There are pros and cons for the use of a dummy, research them and make an informed decision based on how you feel
☀️Dummies can provide a great comfort to children, this can help contribute to them being more settled at sleep times BUT it’s not the golden ticket to sleep (if it was, every child would have a dummy)
☀️I’ve met lots of children who use a dummy and still haven’t learnt the skills to self settle and still have night wakings wanting their parents help.
Dummy users still need to be taught the skills of sleep *so don’t let anyone tell you the only reason they are a good sleeper is down to the dummy...it’s simply not true*
☀️The use of a dummy is a personal choice. Sometimes it can be the only comfort for a baby who suffers with colic/reflux or who have a more sensitive personality (outside judgement is not helpful)
☀️you will have to put it back in for them until they can physically do it themselves
☀️you will wean them off the dummy eventually
